Welcome to North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue. We are a private, donation funded, no kill rescue. Our mission is to help end pet overpopulation, abandonment and neglect. We provide care and find homes for dogs of any breed, age, or medical need.  We have found homes for over 2,000 dogs in the last 10 years. We hope to have this number keep growing as we strive to save these sweet souls. Thank you for your support, we couldn't do what we do without it.

She really needs a home. Daisy has been in a wonderful foster home for a long time now. Unfortunately, her foster mom will have to be traveling a lot more next month and is unable to keep Daisy. Happy Tails Needed!


 

We can never express how thankful we are to all of our adopters. Over the years you have helped us save so many dogs and have given them wonderful homes.  We love receiving pictures and updates from you and they truly lift our hearts and make it easier to keep going through all of the heartache and stress. We have always wanted to put together a “Happy Tails” page but have never been able to find the time amongst all the other needs to put it together. We are ready now but we need your help.  If you would like your dog and you to be a part of it, please send us your favorite picture and a short write up that includes the following. Your dog’s name (what it was when you adopted him/her and now, if you changed it), when you adopted them, how they are doing and/or how they have affected your life. We will then put it all together on our website. We would love to show off the wonderful dogs that have come through the rescue and honor the wonderful people who took them into their hearts and homes.

CALLING ALL TEACHERS Something we have been hoping to do at NMAR for quite some time is to combine education and fundraising. Pennies for Puppies is a program that will begin in one of the CMS Pilot Schools school Dec. 1 under the direction of one of our long time volunteers. Gunny's mother recently incorporated our voting for Gunny contest into the school in several ways; she was able to promote community service, a lesson in pet care, teach the children about the voting process and even include a geography lesson, showing all the states, and countries that Gunny had votes from. On the tail end of that we are starting Pennies for Puppies. If you are interested please write for more information about how you might help NMAR as well as have a great, and fun learning experience for your students.

ATTENTION TEACHERS:
We now have a Gunny's Pennies For Puppies packet which includes a disc that provides all the information needed to implement the program at your school.  Please contact us if you would like more information.

We are no longer located at the old facility in Harrisburg, NC. Our dogs are located in various foster homes. Please contact us if you would like to meet one of the dogs or puppies and we will set up a time and location.


We are a tax deductible, 501c3 organization! You can email us for our tax number if needed. Bank of America, Wachovia, Piedmont Natural Gas & Duke Energy do matching donations. Check to see if your employer does!
